Surgery Insurance

Surgery Insurance

Running or owning a surgery business is of course a complex, demanding matter. Making sure you have taken care of your insurance needs gives you the security to focus on managing your business. There are some mandatory types of insurance you must have, and a few optional ones, but choosing the right package can prove extremely valuable.

All employers in Britain must be covered by employers’ liability insurance as a compulsory legal measure. You are an employer if you employ anyone in any kind of role contributing to your business. Any vehicles you run as part of the business, for example to transport patients, staff or medical supplies back and forth, must naturally have motor insurance cover also.

You can protect your surgery premises using buildings and contents insurance. This should ideally cover your surgical equipment, including any medical machines, implements and computers, as well as any stock you hold of drugs or medicines. Any equipment you use for managing payments may also be covered by this.

Public liability insurance is extremely important in surgery businesses, for the likelihood of a costly legal incident is very much higher than with most businesses. The age of litigation is very much in full swing, so you may experience people suing you for all sorts of reasons, with legal costs that may cripple your business if you are not insured for them.

If your surgery experiences some incident that prevents it from functioning for a period, business interruption insurance may also prove very valuable indeed.
