Shop Insurance
If you own or manage a shop, insurance may prove to be a vital element in your business practice. There are a couple of types of insurance you must have in order to comply with the law, and there are additional insurance options you may consider.
Any business with employees is obliged to take out employers’ liability compulsory insurance. If you employ a team of one or more staff, you will therefore be obliged to have this cover. If you run any vehicles for your shop business you must also provide adequate motor insurance for them.
If you own or operate a retail outlet for your business, you may wish to purchase buildings and contents insurance. Of course this is a product many property owners purchase, but for shops there are a number of unique considerations you should bear in mind. When shopping for buildings and contents insurance for retail premises, check that you are going to be covered for fixtures and fittings as well as any stock you plan on storing for sale. You may also want to cover any equipment your shop uses. If your outlet is going to have significant quantities of cash stored within it, you may also consider covering yourself for theft using money cover.
You may also opt to cover your shop business for such additional risks as breaks in business continuity for circumstances in which your operations are forced to cease for a period of time. Legal expenses may also optionally be included in your policy.
