Car Valeters Insurance

Car valeting is a unique profession in which you use a specific set of skills. If you run a car valeting business, there are a series of insurance issues you must consider to protect yourself and your business. Aside from the obligatory types of insurance you must have by law, there are a few more you may find extremely valuable.

If you employ other people to work in your car valeting business, you must be covered with employers’ liability compulsory insurance as their employer. If your business uses vehicles to get from A to B, for example if you travel to carry out valeting services rather than people coming to your premises, you must also make sure these vehicles are covered by adequate motor insurance.

Any business premises should ideally be covered by buildings and contents insurance, and this applies equally to a car valeting business. If you do take out buildings and contents cover for your business, do make sure it is going to cover you for your car valeting equipment, any other equipment and tools you use for example cash registers, and optionally your fixtures and fittings.

Public liability insurance is something many car valet businesses take as a precaution. If you’re working on someone’s car and have a mishap which damages it, for example scratching it with a tool or breaking a window, their insurance company will almost certainly seek to recover the costs from you, so having public liability cover may end up proving to be invaluable to your business.
